 Flood Warning  Statement as of 11:27 am CDT on July 7, 2015


The National Weather Service in St. Louis has issued a

* Flood Warning for
the Mississippi River at Winfield lock and dam 25
* from Wednesday afternoon until further notice.
* At 11:00 am Tuesday the stage was 25.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 26.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: the river is forecast to rise back above flood stage early
Wednesday afternoon and continue rising to near 28.1 feet Sunday morning.
Additional rises are likely.
* Impact: at 28.5 feet... much of County highways b and c in eastern
St. Charles County are flooded.
* Impact: at 27.5 feet... at this stage, lock and dam 25 will
stockpile 200 tons of sand, 12,000 sandbags, and 10,000 square feet
of polyethyline plastic as a precaution.
* Impact: at 26.0 feet... flood stage. Highway b in eastern St.
Charles County floods near the Dardenne creek bridge.

* Flood Warning for
the Mississippi River at Clarksville lock and dam 24
* from late Wednesday night to Monday afternoon.
* At 11:00 am Tuesday the stage was 23.5 feet.
* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: the river is forecast to rise back above flood stage late
Wednesday night and continue to rise to near 26.3 feet Friday evening.
Additional rises are likely.
* Impact: at 25.5 feet... State Route p east of Elsberry begins
flooding just east of the levee.
* Impact: at 25.3 feet... the Road to port Marmac, about 15 homes just
south of Clarksville, begins flooding.

The Flood Warning continues for
the Illinois River at Hardin
* until further notice.
* At 10:30 am Tuesday the stage was 32.3 feet.
* Flood stage is 25.0 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Forecast: the river is forecast to continue to fall slowly to near
31.5 feet Thursday morning and remain near that level through
Sunday morning.

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of Illinois and Missouri... including the following
counties... in Illinois... Adams IL... Bond IL... Brown IL...
Calhoun IL... Clinton IL... Fayette IL... Greene IL... Jersey IL...
Macoupin IL... Madison IL... Marion IL... Monroe IL... Montgomery
IL... Pike IL... St. Clair IL and Washington IL. In Missouri...
Jefferson MO... Lewis MO... Lincoln MO... Marion MO... Pike MO...
Ralls MO... St. Charles MO... St. Louis city MO and St. Louis MO.

* Through late Wednesday night

* several rounds of showers and thunderstorms will bring heavy
rainfall and the potential of flash flooding to the region...
mainly tonight through Wednesday evening. Widespread multi day
rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are likely... with localized
amounts exceeding 5 inches.

* Heavy rainfall will result in flooding of low lying or poor
drainage areas... and ultimately dangerous flash flooding on
smaller creeks and streams. Significant rises on larger
streams and rivers will also be possible.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that flash flooding is possible but not
imminent in the watch area. People in the watch area should be
aware of the possibility of heavy rainfall and flash flooding.
Check your preparedness requirements... especially if you live in
flood prone areas. Stay informed... and be ready for quick action
if flooding is observed or if a Flash Flood Warning is issued.
