A tornado crossed the Fayette and Walker County line near the intersection of County Road 24 and Highway 13. The tornado continued northeast across Walker County and hit the town of Kansas before lifting. Most of the damage was in the town of Kansas. Several large trees were uprooted. The trees were over 100 years old with the largest trunk 4 feet in diameter. The tornado was rated an EF-1 with peak winds of 100 mph and maximum width of 50 yards. 05/08/2008 0202 PM 2 miles SSE of Lake Shore, Walker County. Tornado, reported by NWS storm survey. The tornado touched down just southeast of the Marylee community, in extreme northeast Walker County. From there it moved eastward, across Smith Lake, and continued into Cullman County. In Walker County, this tornado damaged at least 5 Chicken houses, blew down hundreds of trees, and significantly damaged at least 5 boat houses on Smith Lake.
