Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Shreveport la
928 PM CDT Wednesday Jul 23 2008

Discussion...

Area radars shows diurnal convection rapidly diminishing...W/only a
couple of cells remaining north of ktyr. We/ll update grids to
remove convection for the rest of the 1st period...W/00z kshv sounding
and models keeping the low level jet west of the area overnight. May tweak a
temperature or two...but otherwise they look fine. We/ll update to mesh
west/current observation. Updates out shortly.

Aviation...

Outflow dominated convection moving SW from diffuse backdoor
front near the Mississippi River valley...basically merged
with scattered convection associated with outer band of Hurricane Dolly...
which was steered northwest due to tropical circulation. Ambient easterly
flow light...however...westwardly moving convection greatly enhanced
gusts from east of 35 to 45 miles per hour...well ahead of precipitation. Most current
precipitation concentrated along I-20 corridor of NE Texas...and near la/Arkansas
state line. Overall...gust strength and precipitation intensity gradually
waning...but with tropical influence...will likely not diminish
before 06z. Some sites could see fog later tonight in rain cooled
air...however...limited direct Gulf flow will make low ceilings less
of a concern. Best instability due to remnants of retreating
tropical system into south Texas...will occur East Texas. For
lfk/ggg/tyr...keeping afternoon cumulonimbus remarks in place for Thursday /vii/
