Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service State College PA
715 am EDT Sat Oct 11 2008

Synopsis...
high pressure will continue to control the weather through next
Tuesday...resulting in warm sunny days and cool nights. A cold
front will move across the area late Tuesday into Wednesday. Weak high
pressure with slightly cooler temperatures will build into the
area on Thursday.

&&

Near term /until 11 am this morning/...
skies will be clear through late morning...with the exception of
patchy River Valley fog through 930 am.

&&

Short term /11 am this morning through 6 PM Sunday/...
plenty of sunshine will prevail later today...with above normal
temperatures...as high pressure remains across the region.

&&

Long term /Sunday night through Friday/...
plenty of sunshine will prevail into Tuesday...as a large
ridge of high pressure surface and aloft remains across the
eastern states. Heights will approach 594. Some patchy river
fog possible. There will be a large range in min and maximum temperatures...
as dewpoints remain fairly low...and winds will not be that
strong.

Some showers possible late Tuesday into Wednesday...as a front
moves across the region. Heights stay above 570...so not
looking at anything real cold. The real cold and stormy
weather will stay across the western states.

Models hint at heights falling off later in the week...with
a weak low moving across or just to the south of the area on
Friday. Thus went with chance probability of precipitation for Friday...gmos probability of precipitation. Went
with gmos or near gmos temperatures for Friday.

&&

Aviation /10z Saturday through Wednesday/...
extended period of mainly VFR flying conditions and
light/variable winds will continue into early next week courtesy
of high pressure. Areas of radiational fog will form again in the
Deep River/stream valleys of the alleghenies Sunday morning.
However...terminal sites not likely to be affected.

A cold front is forecast to push into the region late Tuesday/early
Wednesday...potentially accompanied by reduced cigs/vsbys.

&&

Ctp watches/warnings/advisories...
none.
