NWS Forecaster Discussion
535 fxus64 klch 211940 afdlch Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Lake Charles la 240 PM CDT Thursday Aug 21 2008 Discussion... after another round of rains and thunderstorms this morning...activity is quickly dissipating this afternoon. These storms were a result of the upper level trough that has been sitting over Texas the next couple of days. This system is forecasted to elongate and weaken by Friday morning...and therefore rain chances return to seasonal late morning through afternoon showers and thunderstorms over the next week. The only exception will be as remnants of Fay reach MS by the Monday- Tuesday time frame...have lowered probability of precipitation region wide to slight chance due to subsidence/drier air. Temperature-wise...showing afternoon highs in the low to middle 90s...but depending on how strong the subsidence is next week...could see temperatures reach into the middle or upper 90s. && Aviation... VFR conditions should prevail through the evening. MVFR conditions are expected for patchy ground fog late tonight. && Preliminary point temps/pops... klch 74 91 74 92 74 / 10 30 10 30 10 kbpt 75 91 74 92 75 / 10 30 10 30 10 kaex 71 92 71 92 71 / 10 30 10 30 10 klft 73 91 74 92 74 / 10 30 10 30 10 && Lch watches/warnings/advisories... la...none.
