Update... 
clear skies across the region this morning. Warmer temperature trends 
with most stations several degrees higher then yesterday. Profilers 
show a mixed marine layer and about a 3c degree temperature rise at 
lower levels. Oakland sounding indicates an onshore west flow due 
to an upper trough pushing through Oregon. Further south at vandenberg 
sounding shows a stronger north wind flow in the lower 10kft. 
This may continue to provide gusty winds over the ridges and 
passes of the Tehachapi Mountains through the afternoon. Todays 
high temperatures may end up a degree warmer than currently 
forecast.

Early discussion...the shortwave trough which brought a nice 
cool down to interior central California has now moved east of the 
district and temperatures will trend upward for the next several 
days as high pressure rebuilds over the region. Temperatures are 
currently running around 4-8 degrees above this time Wednesday. 
Highs will return to around climatology this afternoon and by the end of 
the weekend most valley and desert locations should reach the 
century mark. Models bring another trough through the Pacific 
northwest by Monday/Tuesday...though there are some disagreements 
in the track and development of the passing trough. The 00z GFS 
digs the trough southward by Wednesday while the European model (ecmwf) maintains 
the ridge across the region and keeps the shortwave energy passing 
by to the north. The GFS would bring some cooling to the district 
by the middle of next week...but the European model (ecmwf) solution looks more 
likely...with temperatures remaining a few to several degrees 
above climatology throughout the extended period. Models drift some 
moisture into Southern California by late in the weekend but it 
looks to stay south and east of central California and the 
forecast is dry throughout the period.
