NWS Forecaster Discussion
162 fxus65 kfgz 070351 afdfgz Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff Arizona 900 PM MST Monday Oct 06 2008 Synopsis...high pressure will build across the area through Wednesday with clear skies and seasonable daytime temperatures. On Thursday...high pressure will move to the east and winds will be on the increase as a storm system strengthens over the Great Basin. For Friday and the weekend...cooler temperatures...windy conditions and a slight chance of showers are expected across the Northland. && Discussion...high pressure will continue to build across Arizona overnight. Clear skies and a fairly dry air mass will ensure that many locations above the 7000 foot level will see below freezing temperatures. For Tuesday and Wednesday...this high pressure system will slowly move from west to east across Arizona bringing clear skies...light winds and seasonable temperatures. On Thursday...high pressure will head to the east as a strong low pressure system begins to spin-up over the Great Basin. The main impact on Thursday will be strengthening southwest winds through the day. By Friday and over the weekend...models continue to show a strong and cold low pressure system becoming centered over the Great Basin. As a result...looks like windy and colder temperatures are still in line across northern Arizona with a chance of showers over the weekend period. && Aviation... for the 06z package...expect clear skies and light winds over the next 24 hours. Aviation discussion not updated for amendments. && Fgz watches/warnings/advisories...none. && $$ Public.........McCollum aviation.......McCollum Visit weather.Gov/Flagstaff for northern Arizona weather information.
