Area forecast discussion
National Weather Service Flagstaff Arizona
235 PM MST Friday Nov 20 2009

Synopsis...a dry westerly flow aloft over Arizona will bring clear
to partly cloudy skies...mild days...and cold nights for the next
several days. A dry low pressure system will bring breezy southwest
winds to much of northern Arizona on Saturday.

&&

Discussion...a high pressure ridge was centered over Arizona today
with a trough moving onto the West Coast. Mostly clear skies and
light winds were noted over northern Arizona with increasing high clouds
from the approaching trough. Most of the moisture from the
approaching weather system will be lost crossing the Sierra Nevada
mountains...and the main impacts for northern Arizona will be a decrease
in temperatures over the mountains and stronger southwest winds.
Valley locations across northeast Arizona will actually see slightly
warmer temperatures Saturday due to mixing of inversions with the
stronger winds.

Sunday through much of next week...dry west to northwest flow aloft
is expected with mild daytime temperatures...cold nights and
generally light winds. A tendency toward northeast surface winds
will predominate through much of the work week due to surface high
pressure building to the north of Arizona

&&

Aviation...for the 00z package...expect VFR conditions with an
increase in scattered high clouds across northern Arizona for the
next 24 hours. Southwest winds of 10 to 20 kts with gusts around 30
kts to devlp by 18z Sat. Aviation discussion not updated for
amendments.

&&

Fgz watches/warnings/advisories...none.
