NWS Forecaster Discussion
715 fxus62 ktae 240103 afdtae Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Tallahassee Florida 910 PM EDT Wednesday Jul 23 2008 Synopsis...the once large area of showers and thunderstorms over the County Warning Area continues to gradually dissipate as it moves to the south this evening...with any stronger storms remaining further to our north. With the diminishing activity...the current 30 percent probability of precipitation across the board still looks valid...but may update in an hour or two if the remaining light to moderate rain falls apart. Over the coastal waters...wind speeds continue very light but the direction has shifted to the northwest. Also...despite moving inland over Texas...swells from Dolly continue to impact the western legs of our marine area... and latest indications suggest that these swells could continue well into Thursday. Therefore...will raise seas a bit to account for the swell component. && Aviation...widely scattered showers and an occasional thunderstorm manage to hold together in the early evening and may continue into the overnight hours...but VFR conditions should prevail at all sites after 03z as showers diminish. Due to the amount of precipitation received across the area today...early morning reductions in visible due to br are likely at all terminals except kpfn...so included tempos for MVFR visibilities that should lift by 13z. Thursday...showers and storms will start up mid-morning...with the easternmost sites having the highest chance of thunderstorms...thus the tempos for IFR visibilities and MVFR ceilings at kvld and ktlh...and MVFR tempos everywhere else during the afternoon. && Tae watches/warnings/advisories... Alabama...none. Georgia...none. Florida...none. GM...none. && $$ Gould/Gibbs/Rubio
